Elke E. Strauß studied law at the University of Bayreuth (in combination with business studies) and continued her studies at the University of Tübingen, where she passed both examinations successfully and received her law degrees.
After working for one year with a small law firm in Tübingen, she joined a mid-size law firm in Stuttgart. In 1996 Mrs. Strauß founded her own practice. Finally in 1999 her law firm merged with the patent law firm Lorenz & Gordon in Heidenheim, building up the Law and Patent Firm LORENZ & KOLLEGEN.

She is a member of the German Bar Association, the German Association of Attorneys at Law and the German Association for the legal protection of intellectual and industrial properties and copyrights.
From 2007 to 2009 she taught Civil Law as a lecturer of the University of Applied Sciences in Aalen.
