Dr. Werner Lorenz is a German patent attorney and an authorized representative of the European Patent Office in Munich, as well as of the Office for Harmonization of the Internal Market in Alicante, Spain.

Dr. Werner Lorenz is a chartered engineer (general mechanical engineering), having studied at the Technische Universität (Technical University) in Munich. He continued his studies at the Technische Universität in Freiberg, and received his Dr.-Ing. following completion of his dissertation with the theme “Product Recycling and Industrial Property Rights in the Field of Mechanical Engineering.” His principal experience in the area of industrial property rights is based on activities conducted in the patent departments of international corporations, during the years 1968 to 1975.

In 1976, Dr. Werner opened his own law firm, which has meanwhile grown to comprise more than 20 employees. Since opening the firm, Dr. Werner Lorenz has amassed over 35 years of experience in the area of industrial property rights, including patent applications, registered designs, trademarks and industrial designs, in addition to the defense and enforcement thereof. Dr. Lorenz has extensive experience in the following areas of industrial property rights: licensing agreements, partnerships, joint ventures, development and research agreements, and other related areas. He is a member of numerous national and international organizations, such as the Deutsche Patentanwaltskammer (German Patent Attorneys’ Association), the Bundesverband der deutschen Patentanwälte (Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys), the epi (authorized representatives at the European Patent Office) as well as AIPPI, LES, FICPI, GRUR, the American Chamber of Commerce (ACC), the Deutsch-Japanischen Juristenvereinigung (DJJV – German-Japanese Lawyers’ Association) and of the European Consultants Unit (ECU).

Since 1998, Dr. Werner Lorenz has regularly lectured on industrial property rights at a number of universities and colleges.
